Brittan Vineyards Pinot Noir Mcminnville 2023 (750ml)
Producer's Notes:
Vineyard notes
The Brittan Estate Vineyard lies just 12 miles southwest of McMinnville, tucked into the foothills of the Coast Range. The original 18 acres were planted in 2001, but due to the challenging nature of this site and limited topsoil, only eight acres survived. Since 2004 when Robert and Ellen purchased the vineyard, it has been an ongoing rehabilitation project: replanting, retraining, and learning the unique landscape that has become Brittan Vineyard.
Vintage notes
Following an unusually cold spring, the 2023 vintage was marked by warm, dry conditions with low disease pressure across the vineyard. The warm start to summer resulted in the shortest interval between bud break and flowering we’ve ever seen. In its second year of recovery after a permanent cover crop reset, the vineyard experienced robust growth and lush foliage. Pinot Noir yields were low (around one ton per acre), producing wines of good concentration, slightly relaxed acidity, and youthful approachability.
Tasting notes
The 2023 Estate Pinot Noir offers vibrant aromas of red currant, cranberry, boysenberry, and orange blossom. The palate reveals dark red fruit, orange zest, and a briary earthiness. Polished acidity and balanced structure highlight its elegant purity. Youthful and charming, this wine promises great complexity and aging potential. Pair this wine with herb-roasted chicken or foraged mushroom risotto. Enjoy now through 2038.
