Dos Maderas Luxus Rum is the ultra-premium expression in the Dos Maderas lineup, blending long-aged Caribbean rum with an additional maturation process in Spain that gives the spirit its signature richness and layered complexity. Produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, the rum begins aging in the Caribbean before being shipped to Jerez de la Frontera for further maturation in old sherry casks.
Luxus takes the house style to its fullest expression, incorporating very old rum stocks and extended finishing in casks seasoned with rich sherries such as Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximénez. The nose is deep and opulent with aromas of fig, raisin, toffee, dark chocolate, orange peel, espresso, cigar box, and baking spice. On the palate, it is velvety and concentrated with layers of dried fruit, molasses, roasted nuts, vanilla, leather, cocoa, and sweet spice balanced by oxidative sherry complexity and oak structure.
Despite its richness, the spirit retains balance and elegance rather than becoming overly syrupy. This is very much a contemplative sipping rum meant to be enjoyed neat, ideally after dinner, where its combination of Caribbean depth and old-sherry influence can fully unfold.
